Strange Garden

Animation film, 7 min, 2021

Those who remember what they are,

and those whose forms and memories have been altered or taken away from them,

come together in a strange garden.

The spoken words at the second half of the film come from interviews conducted with members of Indonesian and Brazilian diaspora living in Berlin, cut and alienated from their original meaning, and stitched together to form new meanings, in another language.

A film by Raras Umaratih

From interviews with Nindya Nareswari, Ghaliz Filkhair Haris, Jan Thedja, Tony Pratama, Mamat, and Luan Caja

Special thanks & love to Leyla & Purnima

Sound mixing Christian Obermaier
