Montage: Found Object

Photography series, 2020

“Manufactured Reassurance”

(keys)

Terror is coming home to find that all you own has been replaced by an exact replica.

“Strange Garden”

(fabric, candy wrapper, dead bees)

Bees and rabbit meet again in a strange garden.

“Able to Self Destruct”

(plastic bag, smartphone, self portrait)

Is it the wish to live forever? Therefore the humans give birth to plastic, to extend the lifespan of the earth, beyond the earth’s life itself. Therefore the humans give birth to themselves again on the digital earth.

“Why Do I Become Older?”

(Bamboo pen, fridge magnet, cigarette filter, wooden board, cotton string, spinach root, banana, plastic net, cashew nut, water apple)

Objects that experience organic aging processes, and objects whose aging processes have been accelerated or diverted through human intervention. Asking, "Why do you make me older, faster?"

“They Say It’s Fun”

(fan, candles, postcard, fridge magnets, prayer cards, wooden sculpture, fabric)

Souvenirs that are collected around my house, by myself, my family, or given to us as presents, sometimes from places we have never been before. Souvenirs claim to represent local identity and to be produced locally, even though sometimes the truth is not so. Representation, memory, and imagination of souvenirs are taken apart and re-appropriated on a new stage.

Assembling everyday objects into compositions during lockdown, as part of “Montase: Found Object” project and online exhibition by MilisiFilem Collective.
